My friend Barry

Created by Andy one year ago

I've known Barry for about 40 years and in that time I've found him to be a great friend who was always chipper and would help anyone.

One fond memory always comes to mind when I think of him was back in the day as young men Barry would come to mine on a Friday where I would cook tea.  For desert we would always have Arctic Roll (that's a whole Arctic roll each hahahahaha) while eating our tea we would watch out favourite program which was Monkey (for those who don't know it was a Japanese fantasy series).  Then after tea off we would to our local swimming pool over on the Rec as it was known (The Recreation Ground) for a swim and meet the rest of our small group.  There of course was Barry who was known as Bazza, Tony was known as Jimmy Hendrix, Dave was the Cardboard box, Mike was the Whippet and I was known as The Panda (it's a naval thing where people get nicknames, given by my girlfriend at the time who later became my wife).  After our swim we would then make our way to The Holland Club where we spent the rest of the night drinking and chatting an no doubt putting the World to rights.  On our return home we stopped off at a chippy in Great Clacton which was not far from Reg Brown's.  There we would order our favourite delicacy which was a "Steakwich" these very very nice and greatly needed after a nights drinking.  While waiting for our food we'd sometimes play a game on the Space Invader machine that was there.

Oh and one other small thing about Barry was don't play Ten Pin bowling with him as he says he is not good at it then wipes the floor with you hahahaha

Those were the good old days of being young, free and single and I remember them fondly, Bazza you where a great friend and fun to be with we had many laughs and pub lock ins.  You introduced me to Ali who later became my wife where you were best man at our wedding, you are deeply missed for that infectious laughter and the way you approached life.

RIP Bazza one day we will meet again, eat a whole Arctic Roll each and laugh about the good old days, and as a foot note the first round will be on you hahahaha
